Secondary Students will develop their competencies in all eight areas from the Western Australian curriculum: English, Mathematics, Science, Humanities and Social Sciences, Health and Physical Education, The Arts, Technologies, Languages, and Christian Living.
The secondary school model we embrace is constructed around the establishment and maintenance of effective working relationships between staff, students and parents. Classes are vibrant learning environments where all students (and teachers) are supported and encouraged to be lifelong learners and pursue personal excellence. Learning for deep understanding, learning to be more creative problem solvers and learning as a community are at the heart of all learning experiences provided.
In Year 10 we liaise closely with parents and students to determine the students’ course selections for the important final two years of schooling.
In addition to the core subjects of Maths, English, Science and HASS, a wide range of subjects is available to all students at Southern Hills Christian College and we cater to all student learning directions. We provide ATAR courses (e.g. Physics, Chemistry, and Outdoor Education), General courses (e.g. English and Design), Vocational Education and Training (e.g. Business and Construction), or Trade Training (e.g. Hospitality and Electro Technology), with equal respect and encouragement for excellence in the pathways students choose.
For those students following a VET pathway, Fridays are spent at the purpose built Trade Training Centre at Swan Christian College.
We have enjoyed 100% graduation rates with all students meeting the requirements for successful graduation.
