On 12th March, seventeen of the High School Student Leaders attended the Grip Leadership Conference held at the Perth Convention & Exhibition Centre.
At the conference students listened and participated in sessions and workshops on the following topics:
Setting Your Leadership Priorities - This topic aimed to help students identify the priorities that need the most focus in their school
Generosity - This topic focused on the character trait of generosity and unpacked various ways that student leaders can use generosity to influence others.
Leading Exciting Events -This workshop unpacked four practical strategies for making events more exciting, with numerous examples from other schools
Leading a Team of My Peers -This workshop gave students four strategies and lots of practical tips designed to make this easier.
Leading with Engaging Speeches - This workshop aimed at giving leaders eight practical strategies for making a speech engaging, regardless of whether the speech is to a few students or an entire school.
Leading in Positive Partnership with Teachers - This workshop looked at the strategies to put in place so that teachers and students can be on the same team in making their school a great place.
There were also some interactive times throughout the day when students were invited up onto stage to participate in some “Loud” and ‘Exciting” Challenges. The highlight of the challenges was when Irwin Murphy showed leadership and got up on stage to take part in a “dance off”. He did us proud!
