Every year our school is invited to participate in the annual SCEAvision languages performance competition.
Past performers have thoroughly enjoyed the event, and last year our own Rachel Deering won second prize for her sign performance of ‘A Thousand Years’ by Christina Perri.
This year the quality of items across the board was taken to a new level. Primary school dramas made the entire audience laugh, students in upper primary sang in perfect harmony and one secondary student accompanied her own beautiful singing (in French!) by playing piano.
Our very own Tameka Beacham (Year 6) bravely decided to audition this year, and independently chose and taught herself a song in another language via YouTube – ‘Maman Me Dit’ (‘Mother tells me’ in French). She excelled at the school auditions and made her way to the Grand Final at Swan Christian College on Tuesday 27th August.
On the night, the judges were impressed not only with her bright singing but also her energy and stage presence. She beat students from three other schools to come second place, earning her a trophy.
Thank you also to all parents, students and teachers who took part or assisted in any way.
