Year 6 OED Camp and Hike

Despite a forecast filled with thunderstorms, the Year 6 Outdoor Education camp and hike was a resounding success thanks to the quick thinking and adaptability of our dedicated teachers. Originally planned as an overnight camping experience with tents, the inclement weather necessitated a change of plans, but that didn’t dampen the students’ spirits.

Instead of pitching tents and braving the storm, the evening transformed into a memorable adventure filled with delicious food and engaging activities. The students enjoyed a delightful dinner of burgers, team-building games, tasty s’mores, and an exciting game of spotlight in the bush, which provided thrills and laughter under the night sky.

The next morning started off with ominous looking storm clouds, and the decision was made to depart early for the scheduled hike. Fortunately, the weather took a turn for the better, and what was feared to be a downpour turned out to be just a light sprinkle. The sun soon emerged, shining brightly on the eager hikers.

The trek through Bungerdore Park was a true adventure, offering a mix of flat and downhill terrain that tested their endurance and provided a rewarding workout. The students navigated the park’s trails with enthusiasm, enjoying the natural beauty and fresh air. The hike concluded with a challenging ascent back up to school, leaving everyone with a sense of accomplishment and plenty of great memories.

Despite the weather challenges, the Year 6 OED camp proved to be an unforgettable experience. It was a perfect blend of fun, learning, and adventure that will be cherished by all.
