On Wednesday 3 August the year ten outdoor education students set off on their three day mountain biking expedition on the Munda Biddi Mountain Biking Track.
The outdoor education students started their mountain biking adventure at Turner Road just east of Jarrahdale. They travelled via Balmoral Prisoner of War Campsite to Wungong Campsite where they camped overnight. Each night students were required to cook their own dinner on light weight portable stoves, plan their route for the following day, complete their trip logbook/journal and participate in a debrief of the days activities.
On Wednesday night it started to rain at about 9.30pm and it continued to rain until about 2.30pm on the Thursday. Everyone donned their rain jackets on Thursday and travelled in the rain from Wungong campsite to Canning River. Once students arrived at Canning River they packed their gear on the bus and placed their bikes on the trailer. Students were then driven to Carinyah campsite where everyone changed into dry warm clothing and settled in for the night.
On Friday the students travelled from Carinyah campsite to Pickering Brook before returning to school to clean and pack away the equipment.
Even though the weather wasn’t ideal everyone had a safe and enjoyable trip. Unfortunately Mr Prinsloo wasn’t able to accompany his class, as his daughter Damaris was in hospital with pneumonia. We would like to thank Mr Myers who was kind enough to rearrange his days at very short notice and join us on this expedition.
