Southern Hills Christian College has consistently tracked higher in National testing results than other schools in our association, area and ‘national similar schools’.
“While we are elated with this consistency and excellent result. We need to see the testing tool as a measure of the success of our teaching and learning strategies rather than a measure of the students’ abilities in our school.” said Mr Nancarrow.
Southern Hills Christian College uses the national testing results and other standarised testing to analyse the areas of strength and weakness in our learning programs.
Throughout this year, college staff have been used data analysis tools to inform practice particularly in literacy and numeracy.
One key issue school staff have recognised is the need to adapt the secondary literacy program to further cater for the needs of students entering in our secondary years.
“Our strategy over the next years is to incorporate a strong language focus in the year seven to ten years,” said Mr Nancarrow.
