Students travel interstate
Over seventy students from Southern Hills Christian College and Carnarvon Christian School toured over to the east coast of Australia and visited a number of educational facilities in Canberra.
Our year six and seven students flew directly into Canberra and visited Parliament House, the Snowy Mountains and many other significant venues over the eight day trip.
Our students were commended everywhere they visited for their exceptional behaviour, manners and fantastic questions.
2015 will be the last year our year seven students travel on the Canberra excursion. From 2016 the trip will operate as part of year six activities.
You can read the trip blog and view the great photos of the trip by clicking here.
The trip often puts the size of Australia in perspective for our students and helps them understand that life is far bigger than where they live. Many parents reflect on their child’s journey on trip saying they often return ‘a little more grown up’.
The trip has been part of our association school's calendar for over twenty years and is often seen as one of the most significant activities for our students.
The Australian Government recognises the importance of all young Australians being able to visit the national capital as part of their civics and citizenship education. To assist families in meeting the cost of the excursion the Australian Government is contributing funding of $240.00 per student under the Parliament and Civics Education Rebate program. The rebate is paid directly to the school upon completion of the excursion.
